Beschreibung

The reader to whom the authors contribution has addressed should be recognized with more recent debate on the capability of the linear polarized spectroscopy to elicit accurate structural information about the molecules in the solid-state. The content is directly related to linear polarized infrared (IRLD) spectroscopy of colloidal suspensions in nematic liquid crystals. The author has presented the formalism of the so-called reducing difference method (RDM) and its applicability to quantitative treatment of IRLD spectra. The work contains a theoretical description of the aforementioned methodology together with statistically representative experimental evidences, according to the author, consisting of quantitative analysis of polarized IRLD spectra in solid-state - in total 45 polarized IR spectra of 5 analytes - on the base on RDM. Chemometrics is presented, as well. The correlative analysis between theory and experiment has been documented. The empirical testability of the reducing difference method and the credibility of the IRLD structural analysis based on the RDM have been detailed.
