Family is the primary source of education and socialization for most children and teens. The volume is dedicated to the question of how families of the most diverse constellations deal with educational challenges under the crisis-like conditions of the 21st century and how gender and gender difference are resorted to in this context. The spectrum of crises ranges from the corona virus pandemic to topics like queerphobia and the extreme right.

Dr. Robert Baar ist Professor für Pädagogik und Didaktik der Grundschule und des Elementarbereichs am Fachbereich Erziehungs- und Bildungswissenschaften der Universität Bremen. Dr. habil. Maja S. Maier ist Apl. Professorin am Institut für Erziehungswissenschaft der Pädagogischen Hochschule Heidelberg und vertritt derzeit die Professur für Schultheorie und empirische Schulforschung an der Universität Bremen.
