Beschreibung
Marie-Claude Deffarge (1924-1984) and Gordian Troeller (1917-2003) collaborated as freelance journalists from the 1950s on, reporting subjectively and controversially from all over the world. This first comprehensive book on their work celebrates their outstanding features and film work that reveal the evolution of 20th-century critical photojournalism and has lost nothing of its relevance: Deffarge & Troeller investigated the roots of political conflicts that continue to shape world events to this day. More than 1000 imagesphotos, entire reportages and film previews, book maquettes, contact sheets, film stills and scripts, as well as other documentsare supplemented by texts that contextualize Deffarge & Troellers core topics, their approach, and the reception of their work. In addition, media professionals from some of the countries Deffarge & Troeller reported from comment on the duo's reportages and documentaries, offering new, contemporary perspectives on a journalism that, despite its critical stance, was inevitably shaped by a Eurocentric view of the world.
